Why do I get the error message "net_rim_locationapi not found" on my BlackBerry® 7520?
Some old versions of the BlackBerry® 7520 do not have the location API included. A software update on your BlackBerry® will do it. Follow this link to download and update your BlackBerry® software.

Why do I get the error message "net_rim_locationapi not found" on my BlackBerry® XXXX?
You may have downloaded the wrong version of Spot for BlackBerry®. There is one which only supports the BlackBerry® 7520 and 7100i model, as those are the only BlackBerry® devices with a built-in GPS receiver. If you have any other model (7100 Series, 8700 Series, 7250, 7290) which supports Bluetooth you should download the Bluetooth enabled version of Spot for BlackBerry®.
|
Why do I get the error message "no detailed map data available"?
This error message is generated by the map server and not Spot for BlackBerry®. It appears when there is no map coverage of the certain area in the choosen zoom level.
|
I have a BlackBerry® and a Bluetooth GPS, can I use Spot with it ?
Yes. Due to the fact that the 7100 Series, 8700 Series, 7250 and 7290 are the only Bluetooth enabled devices (excluding 7520 and 7100i) Spot for BlackBerry® in combination with a Bluetooth GPS is only runnable on them. Please download the Bluetooth enabled version of Spot for BlackBerry®.

I get a map of the world, but I do not know where I am, what's wrong?
The map screen shows the worldmap as default map if no GPS position has been received. After the first GPS position is received, Spot for BlackBerry® will automatically zoom to your current position.

I can't see a map and got a ''WMS ERROR'', what's wrong?
A WMS Error indicates a problem with the Web Map Service which is currently in use. It might be a problem with your internet connection or a problem of the map server. You can check the error details in ''Settings->Log''. If you do not know what goes wrong please write us an e-mail with the error description.

Why does Spot for BlackBerry® drain the battery off that fast?
Earlier beta versions of Spot for BlackBerry® had a problem with power consumtion on the BlackBerry®. This issue was solved and now you can enable a power saving mode (''Settings->Global Settings->Power Saving Mode'') which will improve the battery time but may result in slower/less accurate GPS positions.

Why does the map from Google Maps appear squeezed?
Google Maps uses a different projection than Spot for BlackBerry®. So the map may appear a bit squeezed. It will also be inaccurate if you zoom out too far. For normal street level use it should be accurate enough.

My BlackBerry® can't establish an internet connection. What can I do?
This might have a couple of reasons. Try to enable ''Settings->Global Settings->Overwrite Network Defaults'' and select ''Direct TCP (Non-BES-Mode)''. If this does not fix your problem, there is a good thread on BlackBerry®Forums.com on this.
